City Sonic Toronto Artist Brendan Canning

BRENDAN CANNING is a founding member of Toronto's award-winning indie rock collective, Broken Social Scene.

He's also a former singer/bassist for many of the city's most notable 1990s bands including By Divine Right, Blurtonia, Valley of the Giants, Len (he can be heard on the smash single "Steal My Sunshine") and hHead (which scored a $100,000 prize in a CFNY/102.1 The Edge talent search contest).

Broken Social Scene's 2002 album You Forgot it in People ushered a new era of independent Canadian music success stories while also winning a Juno for Alternative Album of the Year. (As did their self-titled follow-up in 2005.)

After touring the world earning accolades, BSS went on hiatus. In July 2008 Brendan released his solo album called Something for All of Us..., the second release in the "Broken Social Scene Presents" series.

He can also be seen and heard DJ-ing the smartest parties around town.
