City Sonic Toronto Hardcore Artists Cancer Bats

CANCER BATS is a Toronto hardcore punk rock band formed in 2005 by singer, skateboarder and graffiti artist Liam Cormier, and former heavy metal guitarist Scott Middleton.

They rose to prominence by aggressively postering the band's signature "bat" logo across the city and gigging non-stop with bands such as Billy Talent and Attack in Black.

The debut album Birthing the Giant was released in 2006 and featured guest vocals by friend and co-conspirator George Petit of AlexisonFire.

The band's most recent album, Hail Destroyer, was given the highest possible rating in Kerrang!, which put the band on its cover. They've performed at the world's biggest rock festivals including Download and Reading and continue to tour relentlessly.

Cancer Bats were nominated for Best New Group at the 2009 Juno Awards.
