City Sonic Toronto Alternative HipHop Artist D-Sisive

D-SISIVE is a Juno-nominated rapper. Born Derek Christoff, he started performing at age 15 in Toronto's underground freestyle scene.

His first release was the indie EP J.A.C. in 1997, including the single "Lost Sight" - featuring guest T.O. MC Abdominal. He has also worked with DJ Serious and Classified and was named Best Unsigned Artist by NOW Magazine.

D-sisive is known for his humour, his theatrical live performances (most recently featuring his alter-ego Orville Knoblich, a masked ostrich) and mixing hip-hop with other forms of music. He gained internet fame for his bootleg The Idiot: Hijacked, rapping over Iggy Pop, and his track "ThisIsWhatItSoundsLike-WhenWhiteBoysLIstenToHipHop."

His 2008 album The Book, a more personal meditation on the death of his parents, was nominated for a Juno for Best Rap Recording and was named Top 10 Hip-Hop album of 2008 by iTunes and Exclaim! His latest record Let the Children Die was long listed for the Polaris Music Prize 2009.
