City Sonic Toronto Artist Fucked Up Pinkeyes Damian Abraham

DAMIAN ABRAHAM is a fanatical record collector and the lead singer for Toronto hardcore punks, Fucked Up.

Formed in 2002, Fucked Up has eschewed MySpace, released 7" vinyl singles rather than CDs, adopted a bewildering number of aliases (Damian is also known as "Pink Eyes", for one) and started near-riots with their uncontrollable live performances.

They are activists, anarchists, esoteric pranksters who Do It Themselves. Their music builds on the foundations of punk heroes like Minor Threat and NOFX - their 2006 debut Hidden World was named Punk Album of the Year by Exclaim! - but has since stretched the template into infinite sonic directions.

Their 2008 album The Chemistry of Modern Life (Matador Records) was highly praised in NME, Q, Alternative Press, The New York Times and more and has been short-listed for the Polaris Music Prize. It was nominated for 2008 Juno Award: they lost to Nickelback.
