City Sonic Toronto Classic Rock Artist Geddy Lee of Rush

GEDDY LEE is the lead vocalist, bassist and keyboardist for Rush, Canada's best-known rock band.

What can we say about Rush and their mega-selling, highly influential, multi-award winning canon? How about that they've sold almost as many records as the Beatles, the Stones and Aerosmith.

And Geddy? Born in Willowdale outside Toronto, he joined the trio in 1969 and has been with them for 18 albums. In 2000, he released the solo album My Favourite Headache. His high-pitched wail is one of the most recognizable in all of rockdom.

He loves baseball, fine wine and art. He is an officer of the Order of Canada. That doesn't mean he won't hang with new kids on the block: Geddy appears in the music video for Broken Social Scene's "Fire Eye'd Boy."

And for one of the titans of classic rock, Rush is remarkably current: the band's latest album, 2007's Snakes and Arrows, is one of its most successful to date.
