City Sonic Toronto Artist Singer Songwriter Jason Collett

JASON COLLETT is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter and member of Broken Social Scene signed to Arts & Crafts.

He has released four solo CDs, including Idols of Exile (produced by Howie Beck and featuring Kevin Drew, Feist, Brendan Canning and members of Stars and Metric) and 2008's Here's To Being Here (titled after a line of poetry by Paul Haines, father of Emily Haines).

His music is often categorized as roots or alt.country but Jason just calls it rock 'n' roll; his poetic lyrics often deal with Canadiana, from urban streets to cottage country and the highways in-between. A central figure in Toronto's music community long before he joined BSS, he has hosted "Radio Mondays," a regular songwriters circle from which Hayden, the Weakerthans, and many others emerged.

His annual Christmas residency "Jason Collett's Basement Review" at the Dakota Tavern is always a sell-out featuring high profile special musical guests, poets, and chefs.
