City Sonic Toronto Artist Dance Rock Trio Lioness

LIONESS is a Toronto dance rock trio with a dark side - but no guitars.

Formed in January 2007 by bassist Ronnie Morris and drummer Jeff Scheven (ex-controller.controller) and singer Vanessa Fischer (ex-Barcelona Pavilion, No Dynamics), they quickly shot from organizing their own guerilla shows at after-hour speak-easies to touring the country with k-os and You Say Party We Say Die!

On their debut self-titled EP and remix EP (Omens, Oracles and Signs) Lioness explores themes of magic and mysticism, dreams and nightmares. Live, they are a hybrid of disco and hard rock, with Vanessa's bluesy roars over a wall of noisy drum 'n' bass.

They have performed at the Masonic Temple building in previous bands but played for the first time there as Lioness for MTV Canada on May 13, 2009.
