DANKO JONES AT MAPLE LEAF GARDENS

Director: George Vale, 2009
For Danko Jones growing up, the ultimate goal was to play Maple Leaf Gardens - like his rock heroes in KISS and all the biggest names in music. By the time he did in 2000, opening up for Beck, the venue was closing. He and his hard rock trio actually became the last local act to perform on the Gardens stage. Returning home after one of his lengthy European tours, Danko takes a ride down Yonge Street around Carlton where the kid from Scarbourough used to buy his records. He revisits the venue and recounts how it felt the one night he got to be the loudest voice in Maple Leaf Gardens. A personal rock n' roll eulogy to the historic arena from one of the city's most outspoken and passionate rockers.
