THE DON VALLEY BRICK WORKS is not a music venue - but that hasn't stopped the adventurous from turning this old industrial site into a spot for guerrilla gigs.

The actual brick works is a former quarry which operated for nearly 100 years, providing bricks to Casa Loma and Massey Hall. While the surrounding lands have been conserved for wildlife, a whole other kind of wildlife has been known to take over the abandoned buildings for illicit gatherings that are part urban infiltration and part art party.

In October 2006, a Halloween party called "Unknown Unknown", which presented live sets from Holy Fuck, Kids on TV, Woodhands and more. Now that the Brick Works buildings are under reconstruction (an environmental/cultural centre is planned), the days of illicit shows there are probably over, but similar sneaky events continue throughout the city for those who know where to look...
